    Aberlour 18 Year Old

Aberlour is known for producing some of the finest sherry-cask-matured whiskies in Scotland, and this expression is no exception.

Over 18 years of careful aging created this single malt, first in American oak bourbon barrels then Spanish oak oloroso and Pedro Ximinéz sherry butts. The spirit developed a luxurious depth, where notes of raisins, figs, and cinnamon blend seamlessly with a long, honeyed finish. The rich mouthfeel and well-balanced spice make it a dream dram for those who love their whisky bold yet smooth.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Creamy, like melted vanilla ice-cream. Fruity and honeyed.

    Palate

Fresh juicy apples and oranges before sherry kicks in with supple sultanas and vanilla.

    Finish

Intricate with chocolate raisins and oily caramel notes.

    Let it sit neat

Have to add, that if you let it sit in the class one hour the heavy leather will disappear and the fruits, mostly elegant orange start building up, and it will get a much more interesting overall!

Silky but a bit dull overall

Don't get me wrong, it's a smooth and elegant whisky, but it will give you a nasty headache next morning.. nose is a bit too leathery dominant and the taste is silky and long, but lacking some complexity based on my experience.

    Great (18-year-old) single malt whisky!!!

Now, we still can buy these bottle's here in Europe (Germany, Netherlands) for HALF that price... And the new 50 cl. bottle is priced around 130,- euro? Making the liter-price for this Aberlour 18-year-old go up to more than 260,- euro!!! For that money we buy around 2,5 ltr. here in Europe... Think we will buy them all...

    Over priced

Far too expensive for what it is.
