Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, this is an older bottling of 10-year-old single malt from Aberlour. A perennial favourite, typical of the modern Speyside style and thoroughly approachable. Such is its popularity that this bottling has been exported to over fifty countries.

Sweet and full. Sherried raisins, hints of toffee and a pleasant nuttiness.
Quite full-bodied, spicy rich fruitcake, toffee notes and a creamy malty-feel and the vaguest whisper of something akin to synthetic banana.
Caramel and honey, the malt still evident and the sweet spices still linger.
Lovely and rich.

This is extremely good value for a ‘session’ malt and although not complex or very smoky I found it rich, peaty, just enough maltiness and with a hint of vanilla - not overly sherried. There does seem to be batch variation but hey it’s a seasonal / natural product. My usual tipple is real ale so I’m used to disasters and highlights - all part of the fun ! This malt was a leaving present from my last job, bottled Nov. 2017, it’s excellent value and more-ish. Prefer with a splash of water. I can detect ‘synthetic banana flavour’, I know exactly what the reviewer means as it is an off-flavour in beer but found none in this batch of malt !! :-)
I bought a bottle have tried it twice. On both occasions I was ill the following day. Worst hangover ever. The rest is going down the drain.
The main flavour: a harsh alcohol taste:(.... one of the worst single malts that I tried... who called it .. smoothly... has probably a heavy Russian farmer vodka drinker profile......
Too young, Too thin and a bit too spicy for me. However with extra years in the cask, this turns into a fine malt, but at this stage, it's not quite there.
