Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, this is an older bottling of 10-year-old single malt from Aberlour. A perennial favourite, typical of the modern Speyside style and thoroughly approachable. Such is its popularity that this bottling has been exported to over fifty countries.

Sweet and full. Sherried raisins, hints of toffee and a pleasant nuttiness.
Quite full-bodied, spicy rich fruitcake, toffee notes and a creamy malty-feel and the vaguest whisper of something akin to synthetic banana.
Caramel and honey, the malt still evident and the sweet spices still linger.
Lovely and rich.

Neither reaches the heights nor plumbs the depths, IMO this is a good session whisky that gains a little complexity in an open glass and when sprinkled with a couple of drops of water, it softens nicely.
This one made my days, before. It was the best price-quality ratio... And then it went down to 40% (it was 43% before), and tastes now like a bitter and stinky blend. Furthermore, its price rised from 19 to 25€. Never again. By the way, do someone know why the damn 40% ?
I know, I was shocked when tasted this malt few days ago. Aberlour 10 yo used to be excellent fruity, sherried malt in this price range, but definitely not anymore. This current batch is really, really badly sulfured, a real stink bomb. The sulfur comes from bad sherry cask and therefore affects the whole batch not only individual bottles. Avoid at all cost!
used to like this brand but just got a bottle and its not what i remember, very bitter aftertaste, put me off this one.
My first step on the ladder, after 3 drams i opted for a dribble of quality H2o and that really opened the door of enjoyment, after 2 hours of trying for bannana the bottle along with my legs had gone. A most pleasant and fulfilling experience, really like this one.
