Seven-year-old single malt from Aberfeldy, distilled in 2015 and matured in American oak before a finishing period in a ruby Port cask. The cask was opened by The Vintage Malt Whisky Co., releasing a total of 474 bottles for The Cooper's Choice collection, without added colour or chill filtration.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Sweet layers of cinnamon, raisins, and stewed red fruit are joined by honeyed biscuits and a touch of floral malt.

Palate Red apples and plums, with zesty marmalade and vanilla joined by waves of dark chocolate.

Finish Ginger, cinnamon, and fruit-studded flapjack.

Finally, a stronger Aberfeldy!
I bought this out of frustration at the £500 price tag of the Aberfeldy 25, one of the few 46% offerings they have. I've enjoyed the 12 and 16, but really wanted to see what a stronger offering could give. Independent bottlings, I thought. I found this one at 54.5%.

The port cask lends a very fruity first impression. Sweet, floral. It's an fruit crumble on the nose. Sugarcane, barley, autumn on the tongue. 80%, berry infused dark chocolate on the finish. Good!
