16-year-old single malt from the fantastic Aberfeldy distillery, which has been operating in the foothills of Scotland's central Highlands since 1898. This expression is finished in oloroso sherry casks, imparting decadent layers of juicy sweetness, spiced fruitcake, and dark chocolate to the whisky.
*UK (excluding Channel Islands) and retail only. Offer from 28 11 2025, while stock lasts.
Raisins and cinnamon at first, before moving on to butterscotch, caramel, and dried apple. A touch of floral malt, too.
Well-rounded and mellow, more apple at first, along with poached pear in dark chocolate sauce, soon joined by clementine segments and honey on toast.
A spark of ginger, waxy peels, silky oak char, and a whisper of smoke.

Aberfeldy 16 year old is an unbelievably wonderful, complex, subtle malt at an outstandingly affordable price. Love Aberfeldy Gold and would drink Aberfeldy 21 year old forever, rather than on special occasions, if I could justify the price. The 16 fits between the two and is in my decanter next to my favourite glass, an honour afforded to very few.
Smooth, fruity and a mouth experience that leaves you in pleasant contemplation. So good I finished the bottle in two weeks and had to get another. Should only be shared with good friends.
With whiskey, and certain ones, is a case of preference. I was looking forward to this one, but unfortunately it wasn’t for me. I found the tater quite harsh to the pallet and it killed the flavour which I was expecting to be sweet and subtle as it was from a Sherry cask… like I said certain whiskeys split’s opinion and that’s what I like when trying different ones. Not for me sorry….
I can hardly believe that a whisky of this quality is obtainable at this price. I've long been a great fan of Aberfeldy 12 year old but this drop is in a league of its own. I have just ordered two more bottles of the 16 and a bottle 21 year old, just to find out if it is possible that there is something better out there. I know that that opinions of quality are subjective but if anyone else has similar tastes to mine, then this is the very best choice at this price.
Very clever delicate flavours, balanced and smooth. It's a great malt at the price! Aberfeldy can be proud of this edition...
