“As an occasional whiskey fiend I do like to wander around Master of Malt. This little excursion into Wales is not dissatisfied. This is a crisp and fresh little addition to life’s rich tapestry, clean easy on the taste buds and true to the spirit of the Welsh. So, if you’re looking for a little deviation from the beaten path, from the usual suspects and instead fancy a bit of something new I’d whole heartedly recommend this tipple. ”

Description

The flagship single malt from the fabulous Aber Falls distillery in North Wales! This expression was matured in a combination of Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, bourbon, and virgin oak casks and is positively brimming with rich fruit and subtle spice. Striving for sustainability and quality, the team at Aber Falls works closely with local farmers to grow top quality Welsh barley and contribute to the local economy.

Nose

Creamy malt with diced nuts, caramel crystalised fruit, dates, and prunes.

Palate

Vanilla and toffee cross zesty orange peel, heaps of sherried sultanas, and dried fruits. A gentle spice picks up with clove, earthy coffee, and extra dark chocolate, studded with nuts.

Finish

The creamy texture prevails, vanilla fudge, darker notes of berries and cherries, sherried fruit cake, soft barley spice.

The best ever

I first tried this single malt in llandudno on the peer at a little shop who was selling it i was shocked As this beats all whiskys both scottish and irish i tried penderyn once and i didnt like it but this aber falls is the best truly the water of life

Taste

Yes, it may be young but it has a fresh taste, and that’s the joy of this young whisky - the taste is excellent and refreshing.

A pleasant surprise

Never tried any Welsh Whisky before so I had to give this a try. Very glad I did, lovely soft but full flavoured whisky, definitely will buy again.
