A limited edition release from A.D. Rattray's Stronachie (say "stron-a-key") range. This mystery single malt was aged for 10 years and treated to a finishing period in casks that previously held sherry, helping to bolster any sweet, fruity notes the whisky possessed. A release of 6,000 bottles.
Strong red wine, mince pie crust and some floral malt.
Quite meaty, though the sherried sweetness keeps it all in balance.
Lingering savoury hints, joined by crumbly biscuit and cinnamon.

Definitely a good dram. As a lover of sherry finished whisky this does have a distinct flavor. A nice red wine nose, a very nice balanced sherry just s tad against the slight tart side. With a small dash of water the sweeter tones from what i am guessing is the bourbon barrel it spent most of its years in. I really like it. And it is definitely a bargain at this price.
