Cask Islay Sherry Edition Bottling Note

You've heard of Cask Islay, now prepare yourself for this fruity Cask Strength Sherry Edition! We're still no closer to figuring out which Islay distillery the single malt hails from, though we do know it's been matured in Oloroso sherry hogsheads from Tonelería Juan Pino, as well as Oloroso sherry-seasoned wine casks from Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana. A. D. Rattray has truly bottled a belter of a whisky here.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Rich mocha, a mix of both salted and caramelised nuts, with smoked meats, dried fruit and a grassy note.

Palate: Marzipan, apple and almond tart, sweet chilli and a generous helping of forest fruit, a pine-y hint and rich peat.

Finish: Plum jam and obvious sherry influence on the finish, with spice and smoke intertwining.

Cask Islay Cask Strength Sherry Edition (A.D. Rattray) Reviews

Great bottle to share

Good dram if you’re looking for the sherry-Islay combo. Very Islay heavy up front with abundant sherry finish. The finish was the most pleasant surprise. 3.5 gaining a 4 with such a great price.
