Valdespino Vermouth Origen
Valdespino’s roots stretch back to 1264, when Don Alfonso was granted land in Jerez by King Alfonso X in recognition of his role in the liberation of the city from the Moors. Today, the historic producer owns around 750 hectares of vineyards, a substantial and increasingly unusual holding in the Jerez region.
Vermouth Origen takes inspiration from Valdespino recipes dating from the early 20th century. Very old oloroso and Moscatel wines are aromatised with dried fruit and botanicals including cinchona bark, gentian, nutmeg, and dried Seville orange. The blend is then rested in casks previously used to mature Valdespino oloroso. Superb over ice, with tonic, or deployed in a suitably serious Manhattan.
