Discarded Vermouth

A delicious sustainable treat in the form of Discarded Vermouth! Cascara, the fruit of the coffee berry, has been discarded during production, wasting literally billions of tonnes of fruit. No longer! The berry is now used to make this delicious aperitif, as it is infused into a base spirit and then blended into fortified wine, alongside other botanicals.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Jammy dark fruits, lots of cherry, with bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans, with a dry tannic and somewhat spicy finish.

Why aren't we all eating coffee cherries?
I didn't even know that coffee cherries (cascara) were edible, much less delicious, until trying this. The flavour is well-described by The Chaps with cherry, bitter chocolate, and kind of a whole-grain toast note (I personally don't pick up any actual coffee flavour, but ymmv). It's incredibly distinctive and moreish. My only complaint is that I struggle to save it for use in cocktails and usually wind up drinking it straight so I've never managed to do much experimental mixing.

A more sophisticated flavoured vermouth
I was intrigued by the description of this vermouth and was not disappointed.
Neat over ice there are many layers of flavours going on and in a Negroni with Cynar amaro it takes the experience to another level.
Really worth savouring!

Quirky vermouth
Great brand values, great value - and most importantly a lovely balanced sweet vermouth. Try with espresso, amaretto and cascara vermouth in an affogato - you're welcome!
