Tapatio Blanco Tequila

The Tapatio Blanco Tequila is a silver tequila that's as good as gold! (We'd like to make it clear that we're using "good as gold" as an expression, not comparing it to Joven/gold tequila. That would just be silly.)

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Popcorn, caraway, flinty minerals, agave.

Palate Fresh lime, a few hints of pine, with cooling menthol along the way.

Finish Quite short, with the pine notes remaining.

Reviews for Tapatio Blanco Tequila
Ol’ Reliable
Baffled at the split decisions in some of these reviews. I’ve had countless measures of the full Tapatio range, sure the 110 is absolutely worth the marginal price difference.. But you have here an absolute staple in consistently agave forward tequila. Loads of tasty white pepper and that signature sticks around for cocktails should sipping not suffice.
There is better tequila (Fortaleza, 123, Arquitecto) but this quality, price and reliability?
Tremendous Trifecta.

Well, hello Tequila!
This is what tequila tastes like when its made in its purest form, from estate grown agave (Carlos Camarena), traditional methods and with zero additives or "taste profiling" as its often called! Carlos exports this range to the US to show them what its all really about. Its Mexican dancing juice (just like the label shows) and if you like or are interested in tequilas you REALLY need to try this AND the entire Tapatio range. Enjoy!

Honest and full of flavour
This is a raw-tasting blanco, you really get the agave and the mineral bite. Not as refined as some but beautifully honest. Great to drink on its own.

urban beach-i rate this blanco
As a bar manager, this blanco is my house pour and the agave notes from it are sublime. It really makes an amazing margarita or bloody maria :) .
The 110 is a slap in my face flavor and i love it too. recommend this brand, in terms of value for money against flavor, quality and distillation method.

I rate their range, my only issue it the Excellencia is no longer available :( . this gran reserva is the most incredible liquid i have ever had the pleasure of trying. Please batch more!!

many thanks

As Good As It Gets
Some ridiculous reviews here about arguably the finest Blanco tequila produced. Ask any tequila expert about Tapatio and its creator Carlos Camarena about any tequila produced at La Altena Distillery (NOM 1139) and you will only receive pure adulation. Expecially about Tapatio.
The reason Ocho exists is because Tomas Estes, co owner of Ocho (with Carlos) & Tequila Ambassador for Europe is because of his love for Tapatio, after visiting the distillery so many times.
As a side note, another legend of the tequila industry - Julio Bermejo, owner of the most respected & popular tequila bars in the world - Tommy's in San Francisco - and Tequila Ambassador for the US also made the decision to get his tequila made at the La Altena Distillery. In fact he ended up marrying the co owner & Carlos sister!!
Tapatio has been made at the distillery since 1937 and is the pride of the family. To give this tequila 1 star out of 5 is simply ignorant if you like Ocho so much. Ocho & Tapatio Blanco are two of my favourite tequilas, they are very close cousins. If you love one, you will enjoy the other.
I will not reply to 7th February reviewer, this comment should be taken down from the wonderful Master of Malt website. I would love for this ''MASSIVE tequila fan'' to post their favourite tequilas. Please readers, do not consider the review, it is pure nonsense.

Im with Ross
I have used this Tequila as my go-to blanco for many years now. Simply put it is a liquid others should aspire to match it reawakened my love for all things Agave. I'd had some experiences/mornings after with terrible Tequila and this saved me. What's not to like about citrussy white pepper with a bit of cacao thrown in for good measure? Sippable and mixable and invigorating as a spirit. The 110 is also mega.

Avoid this, get the 110
This is a VERY poor cousin to the Tapatio 110, which is an absolutely excellent tequila. I agree with the first reviewer here - there IS a "chemical" taste to this which is not present in the 110. It's drinkable (sweet, fresh agave notes) but it's not something that I would go out of my way to drink. The Ocho range, in my opinion, is better value and better quality. DO try the 110 though - it's mindblowing. It's just a shame that quality didn't filter down into this version.

I'm not sure what happened with the reviewer below me, but let me say that (in my opinion) Tapatio is one of the best tequila's out there. There may be better tequila's in general but you wont be getting them for anywhere near this price. Definitely worth trying if you are a tequila fan and even better to try if you are not because after a drink of this, you will be.

Unpleasant at best
As a MASSIVE tequila fan, I thought I would give this one a go - I had heard that it was great value but, as far as tasting notes went, all I could seem to find on the internet were Speciality Brands' own notes (runner bean nose, peppery palate, white chocolate, blah blah blah), followed by the suggestion (again penned by Speciality Brands) that if I didn't like this tequila, I may as well give up drinking tequila, since Tapatio Blanco is the ESSENCE of what a blanco should be...

Well, Speciality Brands, I can assure you that I will not be giving up tequila, since it is my spirit of choice. What I WILL be giving up is Tapatio Blanco. It is, quite simply, an extremely unpleasant tequila. I thought I would give it a fair try, so had it straight, with sangrita, in a margarita, etc. etc. etc. but one simple fact kept rearing its ugly head... It tastes "chemically", almost a soapy flavour which, I can assure you, is not what I look for in a tequila.

I was surprised by my complete distaste for this spirit and decided to recheck the online comments that had led me to try this in the first place. When I checked these, I noticed something striking... ALL of the reviews mentioned how good the tequila was FOR THE PRICE!! When I looked at the prices they were talking about, it was US$25 for a 1 litre bottle!!!!! Put simply, this is cheap tequila and tastes like it. Incredibly unpleasant and nothing I did to it seemed to make it any better. So bad, in fact, that this is the first and only bottle of spirit that has ever gone in my bin with over half a bottle remaining! Avoid.
