This is the Reposado expression from Tequila El Rayo, which distils 100% Blue Weber agave in 105 year old copper stills and matured for seven months in casks that previously held whiskey before being bottled. El Rayo translates to 'the lightning', and the name is an homage to the legend that lightning struck a Blue Weber agave plant, cooking it and creating the first Tequila.
Soft caramel notes and a subtle hint of oak, with underlying orange, while the cooked agave vegetal hints still remain alongside the sweeter notes.

Lovely with ice tonic and a slice of red grapefruit
over rated, just a watered down tequila that needs a mixer to make it palatable
Gentle, light & fresh, not too complex. Butterscotch on the palette then comes the grassy vegetal notes in the development & a wisp of pine needles on its short finish. No burn. Remindes me more of Sotol than a Tequilla.
Taste better than any other tequila frankly... and probably the most stylish bottle on my home drinks trolley.
Although less complex in flavours than it’s plata, the reposado is beautifully smooth and perfect to sip on. The sweeter notes and slight oak smoke from the barrel aged techniques come through and has a nice lingering finish.
