38% 2 years old and how much! It tastes smooth. It would be interesting to do a specific gravity test to check for added sugar.
Was OK..... Just OK, definitely not worth the price!
Even if you aren't a tequila expert this stands out as tasting like something very much more special than the next best thing. Makes typical off the shelf tequila seem like lighter fluid by comparison.
This is one of those bottles that is going to have to make an appearance at some stage on your tequila journey, but I'd been putting it off fearing that it would prove over hyped (plus while I'm a fan of the Don Julio heritage, their lesser tequilas don't do much for me). The fact that this is now owned by the mighty Diageo and available in a UV bottle for those VIP nightclub experiences did not help at all! BUT....its actually very good. Yes you can tell its been crafted to be sweeter with less burn in order to appeal to the wider audience but unlike some others I can mention it doesn't go too far. It still has a robust complexity and a rolling finish which quite surprised me. The quality presentation adds to the sense of occasion. Is it worth it?...well that depends on the occasion. Are there better Anejos at a much lower price?....oh yes, but you won't find them in nightclubs!
I really was looking forward to trying Don Julio 1942 as a product that's almost 'infamous'. Really wasn't a fan about how 'manufactured' the product tastes. You can get much better anejos for the price
