FEW Bourbon Bottling Note

The fantastic FEW Bourbon, packed full of toffee, clove, vanilla and warming spice goodness! This splendid craft beauty comes presented in a gorgeous bottle adorned with a label showing off some local heritage, depicting a scene from the Chicago World’s Fair of 1892. A vibrant spirit drink filled to the brim with character.

FEW Spirits hails from Evanston in the United States of America, a city that suffered Prohibition for over one hundred years thanks to many of its advocates hailing from its dry streets. Thankfully Evanston is now home to this excellent craft distillery which takes its name ironically from the initials of Frances Elizabeth Willard, a key figure in the Temperance Movement.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Cloves, vanilla and caramel form a rich and spicy aroma.

Palate: The flavour is sweet with notes of toffee and caramel with spicy notes of cardamom and cloves.

Finish: The finish is long and lingering with warmer spice notes tingling until the very end.

Overall: This is a spicy sip indeed, and great for it!

FEW Bourbon Reviews

Depends on your palette

I admit I'm still finding my favourite when it comes to a Bourbon and this isn't it unfortunately. I can see why many reviews love it and a few dislike it. When "spicy" is mentioned it's very heavy on the clove and cardamom and it's not for me. Now I'm not saying it's not a nice drop but it's just not for my palette, for me it's a a steady 6/10 but that's because it's not for me personally. If you dont mind the flavours of clove and cardamom then you'll love it. Overall smooth but with a heavy kick of "particular"spice. Brave, even at £45 a bottle.

Quite possibly the best bourbon I have ever tasted. There's a lot going on flavour-wise, but nothing is overpowering. I think it's best drunk neat over 1 or 2 cubes of ice. it's very VERY smooth & easy to drink. The bottle and label are also great looking (if you care about that sort of thing) .

Very good Bourbon

One of the nicest Bourbons I've had, glad it's at 46.5% as it adds that little extra kick.

Overall a decent bottle - interested in trying their award winning Rye

Price point is a bit high for what you get. "Not worth the price" is a bit harsh with comments - sour is not what comes through at all; a simple lack of complexity due to it being a fairly young bourbon is the issue. If FEW managed to get this on the shelf for $30.00, they would sell a ton. It actually has a bit more of a smoky nature to it, so the good reviews from scotch drinkers makes sense. overall a decent bourbon - too each their own palate -

I would be interested in "Not worth the price" tasting process, e.g. splash of water, one ice cube, neat, etc.

I did one cube and it was quite nice...

Not worth half the price.

FEW is RAW ! I thought this was pricey for a four year old and was correct. The taste was sour, I did not enjoy any of the comments others made. It was like one year old Russian vodka, not enjoyable at all. Burnt all the way down my throat. In order to finish it, dilute it 30%. If you can get Dickel for half the price and it is three times as mature, don't waste your money.
I have read mixed reviews, but agree with those who say it is like rubbing alcohol.

Bourbon virgin

I've been an Islay single malt man for years but was persuaded to venture outside of Islay by a work colleague who recommended this.
Got to hand it to the guys at FEW because this is an excellent little number.
Smells of caramel, vanilla and good whack of spice.
Then some amazing tastes of toffee apple, caramel and subtle herbs and a good kick. Beautiful after tastes of spices and slightly floral.

I'm really glad I decided to give this one a go and would definitely buy it again.
It doesn't quite hit the complexities of a single Malt Islay, but still a cracking drink, seeing as I don't really have any other bourbons to compare it to then I've gone for a solid 4 stars.

Great start but 'ok' finish

I've been wanting to try this for a while but, and it's a poor excuse, the bottle put me off.
I eventually tried it and it's 'ok'. At first sniff is pleasantly sweet and rich. At first sip too, it tastes sweet, slightly spicey, complex and oh so smooth.
My problem is that the more I dream, the more earthy it tasted. To the point where I wasn't enjoying it anymore.

Pricey but good!

Let's not mess around 50 notes for this is pushing it, but it is very very good quality. The higher end market bourbons are a tricky devil. If you're not an avid bourbon drinker then you are probably wasting your money. But if you have a well seasoned palette and you know whats good and the reason why...then this will most surely appeal to you. Lots and lots going on, not like the gritty Kentucky's that strip you raw. This is complex and delicious and at 99% proof has enough clout about it. Delicious on its on but would make a very naughty sour. Are there better out there? Of course but this is most definitely high ranking.

My new favorite

Without a doubt the smoothest bourbon I have ever tasted. This is now my new favorite held above all other bourbons.

Unbelievably good

Straight up, the best bourbon I have ever tasted! I'm not a massive bourbon fan in general but this is, quite simply, mindblowing. Starts sweet, with caramel and cherry notes but the finish is what seals the deal. Ridiculously long and spicy (I find this spicier than their rye). Black pepper, cinnamon and vanilla, with a VERY satisfying burn. They have absolutely knocked this one out of the park. Stunning job!! Cannot rate this lower than a 10/10 and I've never done that for a bourbon before!

Caramel toffee and a buttery finish

Absolutely delicious Bourbon... a Sugar Daddy with a touch of alcohol!

At this price point, I expected more ..

My favourite bourbon

Am not a bourbon guy, preferring whisky's without an e usually, however this is superb. Like buttered popcorn. I prefer to other, often much more expensive, Bourbon's I've tried. Get a bottle, you won't regret it.

A wonderful, warming drop

Heartily recommended.

Up there with Hudson four grain

gorgeous flavor ... I highly recommend!

Favourite bourbon thus far

I'm 25 and have enjoyed whiskey since I started drinking Jack as a teen. My last purchase was the Balvenie 14 y.o. Caribbean cask and this bottle. By far the best bourbon I have purchased thus far. It smells very sweet and sinks to the back of your throat with dangerous ease. And as it slides across your palate leaves a brief punchy spice that tapers off into a tingle once the dram has been taken back. Very smooth.

23rd December 2014

Pretty good stuff

A nice bourbon, tastes heavily of pear to my palate.

12th December 2013

spice from the rye comes through, but it is also smooth from the malt. A cracking Bourbon, and worthy of another purchase.
