The Netherlands
Here we have an eight-year-old batch of Flying Dutchman rum, a resplendent libation forged in the crucible of Zuidam distillery in the fabled land of the Netherlands. Double pot distilled and aged a full eight years in the belly of an ancient ex-solera oloroso sherry cask, this bottling joins the End of the World series from That Boutique-y Rum Company.
The label portrays the gallant Captain Patrick van Zuidam at the helm of his ship, navigating turbulent seas of bubbling molasses, under siege from a giant sea monster — a behemoth with tentacles that writhe and grasp in a furious assault.
In the face of such aquatic adversity, one must savor every drop, as if to defy the very sea creature that seeks to claim the drinker's spirit. Sail forth, my comrades, and may your palate be guided by the whispers of adventure and the legacy of the Zuidam distillery.
Batch 3 is a release of 459 bottles.
Orange peels, plump sultanas, tropical pineapple, and vanilla fudge.
Sweet and oily, with handfuls of juicy raisins and sultanas, stone fruits, and set honey.
Milk chocolate and honey tail off with notes of earthy oak, oily nuts, black tea, and cracked peppercorns.
