Wood's is made from the finest sugar cane and distilled in Guyana, South America. Bottled at 57% abv, it is one of the highest percentage volume dark rums out there right now, at least at this price.
Its smooth enough to enjoy neat, but also a killer choice for cocktails.
Toffee, cinnamon, cloves and pepper spice on the nose with thick caramel notes.
Muscovado sugar, soft toffee and just a hint of the spice detected on the nose. This is very smooth, belying its hefty abv.
Surprisingly short but thick and syrupy toffee notes abound.
A rich, dark rum with a high abv that retains its smoothness. Would work well in a dark and stormy, despite the fact Wood's is distilled in Guyana, and not Bermuda.

My dad always gave me a tot of woods navy rum when we went out as a family once a week from the age of about 14 ,he used to say sippers or suppers as a choice to drink it, I'm now 71 and don't drink it that often now but still enjoy when I do.
The strongest I've tasted at 57% but still pleasant, and if you drink with mixer you just add extra to make it all last longer. Strong hint of oracle toffee and other toffeee notes. Very worthwhile
Nice very nice, love it.??
Did the same person write all of these reviews, which are remarkably similar in tone and content? Anyhoo, good rum, but extremely strong and difficult to drink without mixer and I'm no novice. Probably best with a dash of ginger beer or as grog (lime and water) or hot toddy (lime, honey, boiling water and a small knob of butter).
Had Woods 100 the first time on hols in Cornwall in early 1980's. Up to that point never much liked rum unless in a mixed drink but after tasting Woods I've been a convert ever since, excellent warmer served straight up on a cold evening. 57%ABV, need I say more
