A 'double aged' rum, although it could be considered to be triple aged. Rums from Barbados and Guyana are matured for five years in the Caribbean before being transported to Jerez where they are further matured in solera systems of Dos Cortados Palo Cortado Sherry casks (exactly the same as the 5+3) and then also Don Guido Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks.
Vanilla, molasses, rich sticky dates and prunes, orange peel, allspice and clove.

The Luxus is a real treat, but three times the price of this 5+5. The 5+5 is decadently sweet and heavy of texture, with a lovely rich mouth feel and heavy sherry influences. It is truly a bargain at this price. If Macallan made rum and produced this bottle, it would be £200! I'm on my third bottle (not all in one hit though!) and will be buying more. Too good to miss.
A wonderful, warming treat on an autumn evening. Deep rich and sweet flavours that coat the mouth and slowly fade from the palette. Incredibly good value for money compared to the not much cheaper 5+3 and the more than twice the price luxus (which is superb but hardly an everyday drink). Think I'll buy another bottle now!
Thick, dark golden brown and quite thick, almost like a thin maple syrup. The taste, however, is quite unusual. More like a liqueur than a rum. Seems to have a bit of a split personality. Intriguing, but not my taste.
Dos Maderas 5+5 smell, make me firt to think about moonshine but it tastes much better. It has a firely taste and a complexity with long after taste. Better than Zacapoo Reserva (and for instance Metusalm "15" - a dissapointment in this class). Depending on my mood, I prefer Dos Maderas 5+5 over Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva. (But in my memory, Zaya stays as the best I have tasted)
The first smell is disapointing but the it gets better. Much more fire and tastes than Diplomatiqo Reserva. Depending on the mood, I prefer this one over Diplomatiqo Reserva. I prefer this to Zacapo Reserva as the "fire" rhum (and over Mestusalm " 15")
