A rather intriguing rum here, made using ruby chocolate, which is produced with the ruby cocoa bean! It's not actually a new type of cocoa bean, rather it's an unfermented cocoa bean which retains its pink colour (fermenting cocoa beans is what turns them brown). Skipping the fermentation also means that it's fruitier than its fermented counterpart.
Brown sugar, subtle milk chocolate and juicy red berries.
I saw this when I searched for the Zymurgorium sweet violet gin (one of my faves), so I thought I’d get it for my boyfriend who loves rum. When it arrived the label looked quite tacky, like a 1970’s slot machine in Blackpool and the colour of the liquid was a bit odd ( a slight Pink, which made my boyfriend question if it was really rum). We were both expecting a lush chocolate taste, but neither of us got chocolate, my boyfriend said it tasted like root-beer/germoline and I struggled to finish mine, even mixed with coke, really disappointed as I’m normally a fan of Zymurgorium products, oh well, you have to try new things, I just wish I’d read the other reviews first
I must confess I was looking forward to something a bit different. The sound of unfermented cocoa beans and "subtle milk chocolate and red berries" was quite appealing. But this is truly monstrous, this is not a rum, it's a crude liqueur style flavoured rum. It is sickeningly sweet with a chemical like alcopop smell, colour and flavour. I dont believe for one second you lads at Masters of Malt have tried this as you never ever had put this on your site.
Truly awful ??
