Equiano Rum is the delicious result of a collaboration between two fabulous distilleries, marrying liquid from Barbados' Foursquare and Gray's Distillery of Mauritius. The rum from Foursquare is aged in American white oak, while the liquid from Gray's is aged in French limousin oak and Cognac casks. It's then married in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at Foursquare, weighing in at 43% ABV. Two hemispheres meet in one bottle, and it's rather marvellous.
What's more, the spirit is named after Olaudah Equiano, a freedom fighter who played a pivotal part in the abolition movement, and the folks behind Equiano Rum donate 5% of the annual profits to ground level equality projects each year.
Buttery oak up front, followed by marmalade on toast, chocolate truffle and dried berries.

Definitely one of the best rums that I have ever tasted. All natural, no sugar or spices added. Beautiful sweet aromas and warm fruit, oak and spices on the palate. A modern classic that can be drunk neat, on the rocks or my personal favourite with a splash of dry ginger ale.
A great tasting rum drank neat, with ice or with ginger beer mixers. Both myself and the wife really enjoyed the cocktails, and you can really increase the taste by reducing the mixer level to get some lovely tasting drinks from this Equiano rum. Very satisfied with the quality.
