Equiano Rum is the delicious result of a collaboration between two fabulous distilleries, marrying liquid from Barbados' Foursquare and Gray's Distillery of Mauritius. The rum from Foursquare is aged in American white oak, while the liquid from Gray's is aged in French limousin oak and Cognac casks. It's then married in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at Foursquare, weighing in at 43% ABV. Two hemispheres meet in one bottle, and it's rather marvellous.
What's more, the spirit is named after Olaudah Equiano, a freedom fighter who played a pivotal part in the abolition movement, and the folks behind Equiano Rum donate 5% of the annual profits to ground level equality projects each year.
Buttery oak up front, followed by marmalade on toast, chocolate truffle and dried berries.
Still rich in chocolate and oak, though now with butterscotch and stem ginger in support.

Having tried a lot of rums like twin fin, pirates grog, neptune, rumbullion, dippy share to mention a few nothing hits the palate like equiano. For the price it is an incredible rum and by far and away the best I have tasted. I do understand people saying it can be a little harsh neat but it is aged in bourbon barrels which in my opinion is where thd harshness comes from but with a splash of coke a load of ice n fresh lime it is stunning
Very nice taste great with just ice to make it sweet and cold. Very flavoursome. Olus great back story behind the rum to which is a bonus.
Read a lot about this rum and story so was excited to try it. It does not disappoint, will definitely buy again.
had high hopes for this after reading the reviews. But I found it harsh & difficult to drink neat. Nice in a cocktail, but I wouldn’t buy it again.
