As with the original Equiano Rum, Equiano Light Rum brings together spirits from Barbados and Mauritius to create a fantastic expression. This time, the rum from Barbados (produced by Foursquare) has been lightly aged, while the rum from Mauritius (produced by Gray's) is a fresh sugar cane juice rum. The result is a vibrantly flavoured spirit, great for using in cocktails – Daiquiris certainly come to mind looking at this one...
Plus, the folks behind Equiano Rum donate 5% of the annual profits to ground level equality projects each year. It was named after Olaudah Equiano, a freedom fighter who played a pivotal part in the abolition movement
Vanilla and green apple, subtle grassy hints, cinnamon and ginger, just a smidge of caramel.
Now this is an extremely interesting one, which took me a few drinks to explore and find its unique taste to the fullest. Perhaps as I was terrible at cocktail making. Having picked up a few recipes off Equiano themselves I got off my arse to organise the e ingrediants and do this properly. I glad I did! It’s not until you get the right ingredients do you realise the potential this drink has. It’s so good I now find gin or vodka cocktails significantly sat behind. Put in the effort and you’ll be well rewarded! Very special indeed.
