That Boutique-y Rum Company has bottled another secretive edition from an undisclosed Panamanian distillery here. What we do know is that this is a multi-column distilled rum that was matured for 10 years before it was bottled at 56.2% ABV. The label art is something of a tribute to the great Van Halen song ‘Panama’, set on the Panama Canal, of all places. There's a lot of references here, so if you're a fan of the band/fun label art you should enjoy working them all out.
Batch 1 is a release of 465 bottles.
Demerara sugar, chocolate baked bananas and dry nutmeg lead among exotic fruit and dried grass.
Rich baking spice, earthy vanilla and more tropical fruit - pineapples and Passion Fruit.
A little caramel lingers.

Generally, I’m a big fan of Panamanian Rum and this is no exception. Plenty of character and nicely complex. Quite robust alcohol that doesn’t try too hard to hide. It smells sweet, like dark brown sugar, with a hint of banana. There’s a hint of banana on the taste too but it wasn’t as sweet as I was expecting. There is some spiciness but I can’t identify what spices might be involved. It’s what I would call a particularly “clean” spirit. Good mouth feel and decent ‘body’.
