It's the second batch of dark rum from an undisclosed Jamaican distillery to be bottled by That Boutique-y Rum Company, and this time it's a 6 year old expression full of toffee-drenched fruit and cooking spice notes. Fantastic stuff.
Batch 2 is a release of 1,821 bottles.
Funky machine oil and metallic notes, freshly cut grass in support with undertones of rich black treacle, banana and ginger spice.
Richly sweet with brown sugar, molasses, toffee and and more metallic and mineral notes emerging.
A sweet finish of raisins, sultanas and other tropical dried fruits lingering alongside fruity esters.
Plenty of Jamaican funk to open up your senses, and wonderful banana and raisins. Word on the street is that this is worthy park, and, if so, to my palate it’s an interesting raw and clean expression well worth your time. Great neat, but reckon it would be very nice in a daiquiri.
An exceedingly rich deep and mellow rum. The chaps at Master of Malt have this nailed in their description, and although I would ease away from machine and mineral notes and dwell on the dark sugar, ginger and raisins. I found the depth of that treacley, toffee raisin aroma following through onto the palate and aftertaste. Instant warmth and comfort. This packs the same punch for rims as Islays do for malts.
