Made in Austria, Stroh is a popular spiced rum and a brand which was created in Klagenfurt in 1832. Great when used in a variety of cocktails, such as a Jagertee or a Punch, Stroh 40 is flavoured with rich spices.
I lived and worked in Austria as a ski instructor for several years. I discovered Stroh rum very early on. I never met anyone who drank Stroh neat but it was part of many hot drinks. Usually Jager Tee. The aroma is very distinctive. The flavor addictive… it is used in drinks like vanilla is for the flavor. It is great in hot chocolate or coffeee. Also used as a component in other mixed drinks. As you wouldn’t do shots of vanilla, I would do shots of Stroh. Be careful with baking. Don’t use the Stroh 80 (160 proof) as we did…the oven door exploded outward not just once but twice!
