Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Very aromatic and complex with notes of pipe tobacco, dark chocolate, winter spices, hints of dark fruit, as well as fried banana, a little suggestion of foam banana sweets too!

Palate: Thick and rich, massive spice notes carrying forth suggestions of dark fruit, prune, plum wine, vanilla, cedar, unlit cigars, calves leather and musty orange peel.

Finish: Long and very warming with notes of caramel and pepper on the tail.

Da Funk
Lovers of funky Jamaican rum will not be disappointed. Great complexity for a rum of this price and age, works excellently in cocktails because the primary notes of this rum easily punch through (so far it has made for fantastic daiquiris and rum old-fashioned's!) and for me I enjoy this even as a sipping rum.

An assault on the senses (in a good way)
Now this is one funky rum, the nose is quite something and takes a while to unpack. Is also a mighty kick to the palate that needs to be tamed by use in a cocktail, with a drop of water or a few good icecubes to help separate out the flavours. Trying this without mitigation is going to end poorly and not reflect the best on this great rum, from there you'll either love the complex flavours or not...

Great allrounder
More rounded and milder of flavour than white Jamaican overproofs, it stll has plenty of funk and it carries a kick alright.
Mixes well - Dark and Stormy, Mojito etc - and plays well with other rums. It's going to leave a clear stamp on any cocktail, and it's de rigeur in a Mai Tai!
It's not often what I want to drink neat - it's sharp, bold, rich funk and toffee - but sometimes, it's just what the doctor ordered

Brilliant rare rum.
A beautiful rum packed with everything you could want. Fill a goblet and warm with the hands. Now get your nose in and savour the fantastic bouquet......now taste.....yum yum!!

Definitely not a sipping rum. Smelt and tasted of chemicals, very unpleasant. Easily the worst rum I've tried.

This is an absolute masterpiece.
This high-ester beauty, easily competes with bottles twice the price. This is a MUST TRY, if you are into real old-fashioned funky rum. I have to get Caroni or Vellier to beat this.

A real mans rum!!
Wow!!!!, I didn’t expect this rum to be this good for such a value price, it was just an explosion in your mouth!, add 5ml of cool water to take away that fire !, either way this will be a stable in my collection and at 57o proof it’s a surefire bargain!

A must try for any Navy Strength fan
A most excellent 100% Pot Still, non chill-filtered Jamaica Rum. A sipping rum for me but enough power to carry through what else substances one may adulterate it with. Wonderful concentrated depth and length of flavour to enjoy slowly over an evening. Pusser's Gunpowder Proof may still be my favourite but this is a most worthy contender.

Not your typical rum style, high alcohol content makes this a very robust enjoyable libation
My bars are all closed this pandemic so I have been enjoying my inventory and been on a Rum kick the past month. Just opened the bottle, added a few cubes of Fuji water and wow this reminds me of a scotch with its complex tastes. I am not one to go into details but after the initial shock and now understanding the style I have much respect.

Big hammer of a rum
Not for me, but it might be for you. I didn't like the smell (for me) I could elaborate, but i'd get banned, but i agree with the other notes here. I liked it mixed with coke, Its a heavyweight for sure, but with coke I did like it. It's not for me, but i enjoyed experiencing it. Jack Sparrow would drink this...
