A fabulous dark rum from Ron Santiago de Cuba, which has enjoyed eight years of maturation before being bottled up. Great value for money, offering up a huge flavour profile of caramel, sweet honey, oak, and toasty spices. Will make for some excellent cocktails and mixed drinks, we reckon.

HORRID!
Definitely not one for me! I found this to be dry, fruity and an alcohol burn that could quite possibly rip out your tonsils! Weirdly though, doesn’t combine that well with Coca-Cola but does with lemonade. So all is not lost.

Try it
This is my go to everyday rum. Full of great tropical flavours and a good burn.
I never mix rum, unless it's rubbish, this certainly isn't. The vintage is not worth the premium. In my opinion the best rum I have tried in this price bracket.

Can't fault it
I converted to rum from scotch about a couple of years ago. Since then I have been looking for the ultimate weekend rum and the ultimate everyday rum. Thus rum is not overly sophisticated but for the price I have not found anything better. Full of tropical fruit notes and a touch of nuttiness, with burnt sugar and a good hit. Don't bother with the vintage, this 8yr old is superb

Loved it
After a recent visit to Cuba I was drinking Santiago most days which I loved because I thought it so smooth compared to other popular brands, suffice to say this 8 yr was sublime I’m itching to to try the 12 yr

Serviceable
Floral and citrus notes like Havana Club Especial (and Angostura 1787) and not much else. Lacks the balance of leather, tobacco and oak of HC7, and therefore a bit underwhelming.

Very smooth and flavoursome, worth a taste
Just over half way through my first bottle, so second sitting! Most definitely not disappointed. Rum is more golden than dark to me and I drink it with cola mostly. When I drink it, it has a lot of lovely flavours on the tongue. I will most definitely be buying another bottle or two!
