Santa Teresa 1796 is a superb single estate Venezuelan rum. Santa Teresa 1796 is made using the solera method (used more famously in the production of Spanish sherry). The rums in the blend are aged for between five and 35 years, resulting in a smooth, dry and balanced spirit that is perfect for sipping or serving in an Old Fashioned.
Caramel sweetness, toffee brittle, pepper. Cooked apple, foam banana sweets.
Vanilla and rich notes of butterscotch, molasses and chocolate. More of those banana sweet notes. Hints of Calvados, surprisingly...
Long, fruity finish with caramel and nuts.
£3.91 - £23.95
Great rum, a world champion. In my opinion the best solera rum. But it is over priced outside latin america.
Best rum I tried so far!
nose is pure salted caramel, its light with an alcoholic bite. There's a subtle spice, I wanna say nutmeg
Great after taste!
Initially, the taste is truly wonderful, then there is a strong bitter flavour coupled with an unpleasant alcohol taste and burn. Considering the price that it is, I was not expecting this. I might have even given it 4 stars, but at £50 a bottle there are much smoother and better Rums out there.
