Ron Colón Red Banana

Ron Colón Salvadoreño Red Banana Oleo Rum came about after the folks at Ron Colón Salvadoreño saw red banana trees acting as shade crops on a coffee farm in El Salvador, and after drinking a cocktail that used banana skin 'oleo saccharum' - which is a neat technique where fruit rinds are coated in sugar to extract flavourful oils and create a turbo-charged flavoured syrup. Here, red banana peels are used along with sugarcane syrup to flavour the rum, and this should make some delicious banana cocktails.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Fresh banana, estery rum funk, with some caramelised sugar and dark chocolate notes.

This is such a delicious banana rum. very well balanced and easy to drink. Not artificial like most banana rums.

What a treat
First tried this at Manchester Rum festival and seeing it on offer had to buy two bottles. Really surprised me how easy it went down. Technically a spiced rum but at 40.5% it’s a nice change form the usually 37.5 but smooth and a great addition to the bar.
