An excellent Dominican rum, Barceló Imperial was awarded a Gold Medal and also the coveted "Best In Category" title at the 2008 International Cane Spirits Festival. This is aged for between 4 and 10 years, and offers a superb flavour profile.
Fresh, buttery and creamy on the nose, with hints of sweet nuts, caramelised fruit and oak.
Dark brown sugar, toffee apples, stewed fruits, malmsey, oak and spices.
Long, good length and texture with hints of cedar wood and cigar leaves.
Wonderful on the palate, fruity and with blends of oak and smoked walnuts. Soft and delicate on the palate.
Let me start by saying the flavor is this rum comes off more like a light, smooth, sweet, bourbon than a dark spiced rum, and that is what I like about it. If I want a typical rum mixer, then I will use another brand of rum, but if I want a complex sipping rum or a most delicious and refreshing rum old fashioned for a warm sunny day, then Ron Barceló Imperial is my go to rum.
Superb rum, lots of notes and exciting tastes. Buttery, toffee, caramel scents were strongest for me.Excellent with a mixer and neat and a perfect bottle to share with close friends.
You can drink it straight up very smooth goes down very well
Im not normally a rum drinker but my partner introduced me to it when he tried it in Dominican. I love it, it so easy to drink and doesn't give me a funny head in the morning. Im a happy customer :)
