A 12 year old dark rum from Ron Abuelo of Panama. They age their rum in whiskey barrels, which adds a distinct vanilla sweetnses. This 12 year old was launched in 2009, and is elegant, slightly smoky and rich. It was awarded a Gold at the 2009 Ministry of Rum Tasting Competition.

Tasty, very good for the price. I found it tastes better from an aluminum flask

Smooth flavor, just a hint of whiskey essence, nice finish. It's a touch too sweet for me, but that's coming from a whiskey drinker trying to expand his pallet

Amazing flavour. Slightly sweet caramel notes with a rum hit but no burn. I will always have a bottle of this in my cupboard. Great value for money too.

I was bought a bottle of this for Christmas as I'm just getting into drinking rum "properly", have to say it was a fantastic introduction. Beautifully smooth and smokey on its own, with a hint of dried fruit in the aroma. Also great with a little ice or a squeeze of lime if you want to mix it up a little, though some might say I was ruining it by doing that. Only reason I didn't give this full marks was just that I don't feel knowledgeable enough in the area to do so. All I can say for sure, though, is that if you buy a bottle of this you will be very happy.

Having stumbled across a rum enthusiast working in a good booze shop he's been passing on his favs and having tried 7 or 8 nice bottles i put this as the best yet. it felt so thick and creamy compared to others and had a moreish quality to it that I've not experienced before

Smooth, nice, tasty and a really good value. This is a mid price rum that can put on shame some hi end ones. If you like cigars, an Hoyo de Monterrey Doble Corona is the perfect companion. The mix, is like heaven.
