Pineapple Grenade is crafted by first sourcing 100% molasses rum from the superb Diamond Distillery in Guyana. It's then imported into the UK where it was infused with a secret spice mix and the wonderful blend of pineapple and salted caramel. Finally, it's bottled at a very generous 65% ABV.
The result is a smooth and extremely versatile overproof spiced rum, sublime in many rum and Tiki-style cocktails, but Pineapple Grenade is also the bomb in a rum and coke.
Tangy mango and pineapple, layers of caramel and a touch of ginger.
To be honest I'm not a spiced rum fan, however I am a Guyanese rum fan and when I read the base spirit was from the Diamond distillery pots thought let's give a go. First impression on opening the bottle was an olfactory explosion, a big wave of alcohol (it's 65%) followed by pineapple, banana, salted caramel and spice, the taste was amazing, again big hit of alcohol (we all sampled it neat, no ice) followed by all the same smells converted to flavourd. Wow this is something different, is it a classic like my 21 year old El Dorado? Too early to say, is it possibly the best spiced rum I've tasted....yes it is. Will have get get more when I run out and it's back in stock.
Not your ordinary rum. but at the price you would expect this. Fascinating and complex flavours with pineapple playing the lead role. This has some serious punch and I found it too string for neat drinking, except on the rocks. As a mixer it adds new dimensions and requires very little to go very far. Very pleased I took the chance to experiment. If you have never tried, do your self a favour. Memorable.
Considering the alcoholic content of this drink I was expecting a strong kick with a hit at the back of the throat. However this rum was mellow and has an extreme punch of flavour. I recommend mixed with either ginger beer or coke. However on the rocks it was just as good.
Knew just from smelling this rum it was going to be a good one...smooth caramel overtones. Agree with a previous review, it goes does very easily considering its high alcohol percentage, an easy sipper of an evening. We’ve tried mixing with coke and lime, white chocolate liquor and simply on the rocks...it works every way!
Game changer... smells fit, tastes awesome, and goes down super easy.
