A limited edition release from Pusser's, Deptford Dockyard Reserve commemorates the 52nd anniversary of Black Tot Day in 2022. Combining a blend of aged Caribbean rums from Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, and Jamaica, it's bottled up at 54.5% ABV – the same strength that bulk underproof rum was historically stored, at the Navy's rum warehouses in Deptford Dockyard. Hugely characterful, with layers of estery fruit, molasses and oak, this is a superb way to celebrate the rum-filled history of the Royal Navy!
Fragrant tobacco, burnt toffee, juicy dates, and berry studded chocolate.
Dense sherried fruits, raisins, and sultanas lead to warming baking spices, with leathery oak and a touch of bitter molasses.
Drying oak builds on the finish, with candied fruit and salted almonds.

I guess I found the strength of the rum overwhelmed the flavours. There was just too much to it for me to discern any subtly.
Very nicer only to be savoured on my birthday 31 July Black Sunday 1970 I was 27 then and brought on Lemon Hart my father’s favourite! I have tasted many Pussers offerings and visited the Pussers Store and Bar in the BVI. Always great!
So having bought many rums over the years and really enjoyed Pussers gunpowder proof several times, I had high hopes this year for the deptford release for black tot day and I have to say I was not disappointed! Thick and intense with a hint of spice, treacle and fruit worthy of the bygone era of the seas.
