Project #173 Salted Caramel Rum

Project #173 Caramel Bottling Note

The pairing of sweet things with a touch of salt is a clever trick to have up your sleeve when it comes to culinary creativity. Salted caramel is a sweet example of that, geddit? Sweet? The addition of a pinch of salt actually helps to accentuate the rich flavour profile of the caramel, and the clever gang behind the Project #173 range has managed to capture that magic, and bottle it up in rum form! A base of high quality rum is naturally flavoured with silky sweet caramel, and a touch of salt, making for a deliciously indulgent sipper. Enjoy this over ice instead of pudding, or why not splash some over your pudding come to think of it? Great for adding a caramel twist to cocktails too. The bottle has a 23 karat gold leaf on the front, which is pretty snazzy!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Sticky caramel and creamy Milk Bottle sweeties open things up. Burnt sugar creeps in with vanilla notes of crème brûlée and crème caramel, and chocolatey wafts of Rolos.

Palate The creaminess continues, bolstered by crisp caramelised biscuits. Chewy notes of marshmallow mingle with spiced banana bread and crispy fruit roti, drizzled with condensed milk before hints of dark chocolate salted almonds appear.

Finish Lingering sweetness with a depth of cinnamon, charred oak, and a whisper of orange zest.

Overall Daim Bars and Curly Wurlies! This will shine in a Rum Old Fashioned, we reckon.

Not nice at all
I found this Rum extremely hard to drink, very rough. Consequently after a couple of sips I threw it away and the bottle went in the bin

Another winner
I’ve tried several of these flavoured rums and they may seem gimmicky but I love them.
This one is lovely over ice. It’s almost like drinking a liqueur, it’s addictive. Even my Mum likes this and she hates rum.
It also makes a great rum old fashioned.
