A superb-looking decanter bottle of XO rum from Barbados, aged in bourbon barrels before being shipped to France for a secondary maturation in Cognac casks from the Ferrand house. The result is a well balanced rum with a remarkably long finish, with a palate of chocolate, banana, coconut and mango. Now this is some very good stuff.

You can smell and taste the chocolate, a hint of toasted coconut and a Fruity carameknin the background... unbelievably smooth.. a fantastic rum for the price of it, a father's day gift I will savour and enjoy... wow... Almost close to the angostura 1824 and from me that is indeed high praise!
Highly adulterated, very sweet, tastes like a very large dollop of vanilla extract has been added. This is more like a spiced rum. It will work in cocktails but far too sickly sweet for a sipper.
If your ideal rum is dark, funky molasses-infused and slightly rustic, you probably won't like this! This rum is light, smooth and silky, with some sweetness and a noticeable Bourbon and Cognac influence. It was once described to me as like an angel crying on your tongue! That may be a little over the top, but to my palate this is delicious with a really long finish and very little harshness or burn.
Insipidly sweet. Great bottle and packaging, but a woefully poor quality rum inside. Did someone mistakenly get hold of a few barrels of the Cut & Dry rum, add a tonne of sugar and place it in the wrong bottles? Little to no complexity or richness, and what I can only describe as a taste of ‘industrial alcohol’. “Mutton dressed as lamb”. Over priced and over rated.
Excellent rum and the best one for such price!
