O.V.D. Demerara

O.V.D stands for Old Vatted Demerara, a style of rum blending unique to the Demerara region of Guyana. The rum is distilled from molasses in a wooden Coffey still in Guyana before it’s blended and bottled in Glasgow. A classic dark rum with an almost cult status, that’s packed with rich, creamy notes.

Nose Buttery, toffee-rich aromas. Dried peels, oak and stone fruit.

Palate Syrupy, buttery palate. Sweetened coffee and banana sweets.

Great Value
I got this after loving an El Dorado 12 Year. It's not quite as distinctive or decadent as the El Dorado, but it absolutely does a similar job at a much lower price.

Great taste….neat
I can understand why this is rated so highly. Smooth but with a bit of bite. Drank meat with no ice as is my preference and was not disappointed. Great value for money.

Mature real Rum , great price,enjoy.
For me this is a real Rum moved to modern taste, butter, sultana, caramel. And toffee, rich aroma reminds me of sliding my finger under the optics on the spirit shelf in the pub of my childhood.Love it .

Thick and tasty
Been drinking rum neat for a good while now and can't deny this is a beautiful daily tibble indeed, I would honestly say the demerara rums are an acquired taste being so thick and syrupy but I would highly recommend warmed in the hand or radiator for 10 mins to breathe and drink naturally to where it's produced. Watson's demerara rum is also rather tasty 👍

Great with coke
I’ve been drinking OVD with coke for many years now and cannot fault it. I agree it is difficult to buy outside of Scotland so great excuse to stock up.

Cannot fault it.
Smooth, sweet, simple. Fabulous. Mixes really well with cola. I’ve been drinking El Dorado 12 yr old rum until recently, which is more expensive, and I prefer this. This will be my go-to rum from now on.

Hidden Gem
The wife bought this as a surprise after reading the favorable reviews, Nice sipper, mixes well with Cola but gets lost when mixed with Ginger Beer. Better than Kraken.
