A richly spiced rum from the Old J range. According to the label, this was flavoured with vanilla and "aphotic spiced" - those of you familiar with oceanography will know that an aphotic zone is a part of an ocean where little to no light reaches. A clever connection to make, considering the densely dark hue of this rum.
I'm a big fan of dark/black spiced rum so I was eager to try this. Anything but disappointed. A superb and subtle sweetness, with a mix of vanilla and a hint of a fiery kick. I never drink any rum neat, but that has now changed. High recommend this to anyone who loves dark rum.
Very disappointed, totally synthetic taste.
I found this in a bar in town and I can't get enough of it. It is sweet with a subtle aniseed taste. Fantastic
As a fan of the other Old J rums I was excited to see the release of a black spiced version. Unfortunately I found this rum to be quite unpleasant. Far too sweet for my liking and that's unusual for me as I love spiced rum with coke. Doesn't taste good neat either. If you want a great black spiced rum go for Black Magic or the new Balla, both of which are delicious.
