Marvellous multi-column distilled rum from the Dominican Republic, matured for eight years in an ex-Maderia barrel between 2013 and 2021. That sentence alone ought to be enough to excite the rum fans amongst you! Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Burnt sugar and dense molasses, honeyed dates, and sticky sultanas with roasted hazelnuts beneath.

Palate: Soft toffee, rich toasted oak, and char, a touch of leather, and silky butterscotch. Suggestions of cooked plantain nestle beneath, with gorgeous biscuity spice.

Finish: Treacly ginger cake, caramelised apples, some warming pepper, gloriously balanced right to the end.

A good honest rum, worth every penny.

Outstanding

Another none chill-filtered, no added colour Rum, again at cask strength (58 per cent). Just needs a little water, but not too much, to bring out the full flavour. I find it gets better when you warm the class in your hands.
