Kraken Black Spiced Rum

Kraken Spiced Rum is an excellent example of spiced rum, with utterly brilliant packaging! This was launched in the UK in early 2010, and it has an extraordinarily rich, spicy flavour. Named for the legendary sea monster, Kraken is a blend of Caribbean rums that should certainly suit any fans of rich, navy-style rum.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Spicy and rich with notes of vanilla and toffee apples. Hints of lime and cinnamon too.

Palate Dark, rich palate. Thick with molasses and tar, and a barrage of cinnamon, golden syrup, nutmeg and charred oak.

Finish Long, very spicy finish.

Pretty Good
One of the first rums I bought when I first got the taste for spiced varieties (not that long ago), but I haven’t bought it for a while as I’ve found lots of others that I like more. When I saw this on offer I got a bottle and I still like it a lot. One I’d still drink just with ice, nice flavour.

Not as subtle as Mike Tyson
OK, this is not for the faint hearted. It's not subtle, it doesn't caress your taste buds or tingle your nose. No, this grabs you by the throat and overloads your senses with vanilla, molasses, demerara and a almost background note of toasted hazelnuts. It doesn't ask for you to sip it, it demands you drink it fast and in vast quantities. A fine spiced drinking rum.

Smooth as you like
This rum is so smooth it’s one of the only spirits I could and would drink neat or on the rocks. I do prefer mixed though. So many flavours but same time isn’t overpowering on any particular flavour note. Just a brilliant array of flavours in general. Defiantly will be buying again.

Great with Cream soda
Normally I mix with coke as my go to drink and Kraken does go well with it but not as good as other rums.
After reading someone's review on here about mixing with cream soda I tried it and it's a game changer, miles better than it is with coke. The vanilla from the cream soda mixes brilliantly with the flavours from Kraken.
