Blackwell Black Gold

Blackwell Black Gold Rum was created by Chris Blackwell, who also happens to be the owner of Island Records. The dark rum itself is distilled and blended by J. Wray & Nephew in Jamaica. It was made in the style of a traditional recipe from the days when Blackwell's mother's family owned J. Wray & Nephew and the Appleton estate.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Bittersweet mocha and woody spice, with touches of oak char and caramel throughout alongside a burst of vibrant ripe tropical fruit, namely kiwi.

Nothing special
Nothing special. Tastes like Lamb's Navy rum, which is cheaper.

Definitley a spiced rum rather than a true black rum
Very typical spiced rum smell with notes of warm spices, little oak and synthetic vanilla. Not terribly sweet, with a fairly strong alcohol hit that may hide subtle flavors while sipping. It may be more suitable as a mixer where the vanilla doesn't detract and the sugar of typical spiced rums is not needed/wanted(e.g rum & coke). It may also be a good sipper for those that want a less sweet version of the Captain. That said I can always find Goslings at a lower price and is a far superior to rum this and much more versatile.

Bit of a lightweight
A bit too subtle for me this one. Light in colour and light in taste. Perfectly drinkable but doesn't bring much to the party.

Great caramel to pepper journey
Lovely no frills or additives to make it sweeter, its a great great straight rum...and the price is the sweetner 👍

Absolute steal!
For the price this is an incredible rum! It’s smooth, sweet, syrupy, complex, intensely flavoured, has a long pleasurable.......I would say this is probably the best value rum on the market £21.95 it’s an absolute steal!
