J. Gow 2 Year Old (That Boutique-y Rum Company)
That Boutique-y Rum Company has bottled up its first batch of rum from the J. Gow Distillery, located on the small island of Lamb Holm up in Orkney, Scotland! It might not be the first place you expect a rum distillery, but you mind might just change after you get a taste of its excellent spirits. This expression was drawn from chestnut casks and virgin oak casks, and bottled up at two years of age with a robust ABV of 57.2%. There's a few references on the label for you to puzzle over – what's with the skis? What's that chapel all about? Why is there a pirate ship?! All good questions. We will be answering none of them.
Batch 1 is a release of 220 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Tangerine, elderflower, a smidge of smoke and woody cassia.
Palate
Summer berry tart, thick honey, jammy sultanas with a dusting of nutmeg.
Finish
Lasting spiciness on the finish, with more cassia and some herbal wood.
