This is the seventh instalment of the annual Great House series from Jamaica's legendary Hampden Estate – and exactly where to go if you want to delve into the distillery's distinctive and iconic house style. This edition combines several marks and vintages, made from molasses, cane vinegar, plus dunder and muck, double retort pot distilled, and tropically aged in bourbon barrels before bottling at a robust 57% ABV.
Dense and rich. The profile opens with notes of fermented pineapple, vanilla, and candied ginger. Hints of varnish add complexity and a bold character to this expressive aromatic palette.
Intense and generous. Ripe banana takes the lead, supported by pronounced empyreumatic notes, liquorice, and a touch of dried chilli. The structure is powerful yet well-defined.
Elegant and complex. The tasting experience lingers with fine wood tones, soft spices (nutmeg, cinnamon), and a refreshing hint of camphor. A persistent, well-balanced finish with depth and nuance.
