Hampden 15 Year Old
The oldest expression in the Hampden Estate collection, this rum spent a generous 15 years maturing in the tropical heat of Jamaica. Aged in bourbon barrels, Hampden's unique, ester-packed intensity is concentrated here, with vibrant fruit, silky tannins, cacao, and liquorice.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
Rich and smooth. Finely peppery and candied (marmalade), the aromatic palette gradually develops tertiary notes of great maturity (fig, almond paste, roasted walnut). Increasingly oxidative (currant) and empyreumatic (burnt cane, incense), it slowly takes on honeyed (geranium) and heady (orris concrete) accents that are truly captivating.
Palate
Both lively and creamy. Marked by pronounced flavours of macerated fruits (mango, guava), diesel and candied ginger, the flavour profile differs entirely from the nose. Powdery (cocoa), milky (almond) and oily, it reveals a texture of great finesse. Gradually, cinnamon powder rains down across the palate.
Finish
Silky, tannic. Cane sugar infused with orris concrete opens into a very concentrated finish. In turn powdery (cocoa, ginger), fruity (mango), floral (mignonette, carnation) and liquorice-like, the retro-olfaction provides a complete synthesis of the nose and palate. Later, the empty glass highlights the medicinal and terpenic character of this Hampden.
