Nine Tails Cask-Aged Rum

A rich, toasty rum from the Nine Tails range from Griffiths Brothers over in Buckinghamshire! Guyanese Demerara rum has been aged in American white oak casks at the distillery, before being bottled at 42% ABV. We reckon a Rum Old Fashioned is on the cards...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

A touch creamy, with banana, honey, and vanilla bolstered by orange and wood spices.

Reviews for Griffiths Brothers Nine Tails Cask-Aged Rum
Love it
I love this cask aged rum, most brands are only doing spiced rum these days but this aged rum is amazing. Would recommend

Too sophisticated for a simpleton like me
To my untrained palate, Nine Tails smells and tastes of TCP (if you're of a certain age you'll smell those medicinal phenols and be immediately transported to your childhood, and not in a good way).
Just to give you an idea of my lack of sophistication, I love Woods rum, which of course is also from guyana; Nine Tails is about as far away from the Woods "Christmas in a bottle" flavour as it's physically possible to be. If I may be indulged with a Clarkson-esque analogy: if Woods rum is Brian Blessed at a party, then Nine Tails is Woody Allen sat in the corner being weird. I mean, no-one can doubt his intelligence and urbanity, but I'd rather be being slapped on the back by Brian while he shouts "Gordon's alive!" than Woody showing me pics of his step children.
That's it then: I'm a simple yokel from the west country who thinks that rum should remind you of the navy, or pirates. It's not to my taste; perhaps it's just a bit too left field for me.
By the way I'm also quite insecure, so I've given it an extra ½ point because if I don't understand it, then it must be really clever ;)
