From the beautiful Island of Mauritius, all the way out in the Indian Ocean, comes the cracking New Grove Oak Aged Rum. A spicy, sensual blend of rums aged between 1 and 15 years. Perfect on ice for a superb mix of hot and cold.
Orange, clove, polished oak and milk chocolate.
Cinnamon, ginger, cigar box and leafy herbs.
Brown sugar, cooked fruit, beeswax and toasted almond.
Quite an unusual flavour, with a slight saltiness, strong hints of milk chocolate and an almost peppery, spicy finish. This is a 'pure' rum (no added sugar, colour etc) and as the colour would suggest it is quite young so doesn't give the alcoholic kick you would get from a maturer bottle. Having said that, it isn't too bland and goes well over ice. Probably won't buy this one again as I prefer a stronger alcohol flavour, but will definitely give the 5 year old New Grove a try.
