Gosling's 151 Bottling Note
A super high strength dark rum from Bermuda. Despite the 75.5% of Gosling's Black Seal 151, this is a very smooth rum, and it's utterly delicious. Well worth trying.

Gosling's Black Seal 151 Proof Reviews
Absolute cracker of a rum
The best rum I've ever had. The first sip set my scrotum on fire but be warned, one sip too many and you'll watch the entire universe collapse in to a singularity right before your eyes.

Belter (literally) of a drink
Taken neat, it will rattle your teeth, loosen your tonsils and beat the life out of your sinuses. Which I quite like, and I'm sure I'll regain the use of my legs presently. A little water with it enhances the flavour for me. Once your senses return it has a lovely caramel finish but best of all... the wife hates it.

Rich, smooth and full of flavour, great colouring. Warm going down and packs a punch.

Wow!
There isn't a better rum, anywhere. Careful though.

Best taste with crushed ice only, not for the mere mortals.
I first tried the 151 black seal with a doubt, would the extra kick spoil the taste, the answer was in fact no...
But this may be due to the fact I had crushed ice and black seal on its own, nothing else.
Black seal has a unique taste,so why spoil it....but beware,a couple of them and you know it's got a punch and a half.

Dark and stormy with Goslings 151
Gosling is THE best dark rum. Mixed with old Jamaica Ginger Beer and ice. Beautiful. First tasted this in Bermuda 1994, been my go to drink ever since. The 151 is the one to have. Hits the spot. Don't be dumb and dry and drink this neat. It will burn your eyes.

Harsh and because of this it destroys the taste
I cannot understand how anyone can review this rum as smooth. It’s possibly one of the roughest rums I’ve tasted. Maybe good for cocktails or with a mixer (Nelson will be turning in his grave!) Four Bells from Guyana for beautiful smooth rum.

A well aged buzz with a hint of the cask
151 proof eh? Well, if, like me, you had your doubts you can do what I did and tack on a 'drinks by the dram' sample onto an order - costs less than a single measure in a bar. The 'dram' is actually a generous measure. So, what's it like? I must admit to taking the merest sip 'as it came' just to see what it was like. It packs a punch, no doubt about it. Opened up with a drop of water it still held its ground. Smooth and easy to drink, it doesn't have the burnt sugar crunch of Woods or Pusser's Gunpowder. It's understandably 'dry' with more of a well aged single malt buzz to it - there's a definite hint of an aged cask in the flavour. I like it a lot and will be adding a bottle to my next order.
