Gold of Mauritius matures in South African fortified wine barrels and is then blended in small batches. Well balanced with sweet, chocolatey notes, tropical fruit and savoury touches of oak.

Just back from Mauritius, where I had the pleasure of discovering this new 'marque', the brainchild of Frederic Bestier. We compared it with some of the best-known rums produced on the island (such as the Penny Blue, the Spiced Gold from Labourdonnais, etc). This got the vote hands down, in terms of depth, balance, flavour and complexity. Starts on a seductive, but not overpowering sweet note, with winey aromas (no doubt due to the maturation in old Port casks - not South African fortified wines, according to our barman), and a lovely dark finish. Superb.
this stuff is great, tried it in a little bar in Altrincham called Riddles!! had to go and buy myself a bottle for home! I can see why it won awards- and it's sold out in Riddles so that says it all try it you won't be disappointed
I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to after buying a bottle. It's fantastic! It's the only rum I can drink neat and the bottle looks amazing on the shelf.
Tastes like amaretto
An impressive array of tastes from this. Initial sweetness that dissolves into a delicate mixture of hazelnut, chocolate and smoke with a long finish. The first bottle didn't last long!
