Great Rum

Not as sweet as the 12yo Flor de Caña

Smooth but not as sweet as the Flor de Caña 12yo which remains my fave.

Another great rum from Flor De Cana

I have to start by confessing that Flor De Cana is my favourite rum distiller - I have tried all of their products from the 4, 5, 7 12 and 18 year rums (the 25 year old alludes me - can't get it in Canada) In reading the previous reviews I'm going to straddle the fence between the reviews entitled "Dissapointed" and " Best Rum Ever" although I am definetley closer to the Best Rum ever. I thoroughly enjoy the 18 year old variety and personally sip it neat. The reason why I can understand the "Dissapointed" review is because I enjoy the 12 year old even more. That decision however is probably as much based on price as opposed to flavour and quality. The 18 year old is an extremly good rum (in my opinion ) but because it is approx. 60% more in price than the 12 year old I don't think I could say I find it 60% better than the 12 year old variety. As someone who loves single malt scotch as well, I know that its not all about the price of the product however I guess in this case if the cost was not a factor I would choose the 18 year old but if price was a factor then I would choose the 12 year old and not feel there was much of a drop off in flavour/quality - However, I personally don't think you can go wrong with either variety.
