I've tried many rums in my life and this one is by far the best! It is a true delight, exceptionally smooth and has an amazing aroma and flavor! I recommend it to the fullest!
I tried the 4 and 5 year Flor De Cana rums while on vacation in El Salvador 10 years ago and enjoyed them - then had an opportunity to try the 12 and 18 year old varities . I have to say that the 12 year is with out a doubt my favourite rum - it does have a different flavour profile than other Caribbean rums such as the Cuban or Jamacian rums, which may not suit everyone - I personally do not find it overly sweet or a heavier Molasses flavour - I would say there is somewhat of a similarity to the El Dorado 12 year although I prefer the Flor De Cana. It can be sipped neat, on the rocks or with a mix (provided the mix is at a maximum one to one ratio as sugested by Flor De Cana ) I dont think that you will be dissapointed to have it on your shelf or to serve it to guests - Enjoy !
Had the opportunity to taste this rum and I was amazed at its complexity for a 12 year. Beautiful notes of vanilla, spice, and subtle oak. This can be great alone, on the rocks, or in a cocktail. If you are coming into the rum game and want to try something great, then this is it. Highly recommended.
Nice rum for the price range, tried the 25yr old, expensive but well worth putting the extra cash towards.
