Engenho Novo da Madeira 3 Year Old (That Boutique-y Rum Company)
The first batch of rum from Engenho Novo da Madeira bottled up by that Boutique-y Rum Company is here! This expression comes from a distillery in Portugal founded by a descendant of William Hinton, a well-known sugar producer in the later 19th and early 20th century. In fact, you can see William Hinton (and his pooch) on the label, watching all the rum-making processes come together. This expression is three years old, and was interestingly drawn from an ex-Amarone wine cask!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Mango, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, subtle floral hints of rose lingering in the background.
Palate
Still packing plenty of vanilla, though now with the richness of maple syrup in the mix.
Finish
Red grape and black tea, with some cocoa too.
