Clairin Communal Bottling Note

Similar to white agricole rums, Clairin is the most popular drink in the remotest regions of Haiti. This is a blend of the four Clairins from the four communes of Cavaillon, Barraderes, Pignon and St Michel de l’Attalaye. Bottled at natural strength, this aromatic rum is produced naturally with no herbicides or pesticides.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Tangy, zesty papaya and citrus, with a hint of fresh blossom wafting in, lending a floral, grassy fragrance to it.

Palate: Some tropical fruit juice sharpness, alongside herbaceous hints of lemongrass and caraway.

Finish: A touch of savoury, salty air appears later on.

Clairin Communal Reviews

Not an easy drink

Did not like, too strong for a sipping rum and grassy notes over powered as a mixer.
White rum not really my style though.
Not sure how I could drink this outside of a punch style cocktail

So weird it always makes me smile

My first experience of agricole. Not keen on it straight. Herbaceous and grassy all the way.
But as a mixer, it's fantastic. Mixed half and half with a contrasting rum, in a pina colada for instance, it adds a whole new, slightly savoury, depth and richness, that I find delicious and moreish.
And it's made in tiny, super basic, distilleries with no mechanisation by real artisans.
Great back story, Great product.
